CHURCH GROWTH/DEVELOPMENT
TRAINING FOR ADMINISTRATORS/CLERGY/LAY LEADERS/BOARD MEMBERS
Some churches don't like to think of themselves as a business. The ones who do are more successful. In many ways, churches are not the same as other businesses, so special attention will need to be given to standard business practices for growth and prosperity.
Hiring & Training Volunteers
The difference between a Volunteer, and a Paid Staff Member is that one receives money and the other receives spiritual fulfillment. Who does the job, and does it best, is the one who is the most competent. To determine competency in any position, the person performing the task must be qualified.
Action Teams vs. Committees
Action Teams are empowered by the Board of Directors to do their work without having to have countless meetings to ask permission to do what they are best suited to accomplish. Committees meet often, and take inordinate lengths of time to complete even simple tasks.
Contributions vs. Donations
When someone donates something, it is done with a feeling of pity. When a contribution is made, there is involvement, ownership, and dedication to be a continuing subscriber.
Planned Giving
People give when they are asked to give, and when it blesses them as well as the organization they contribute to. This endows the church for many years in the future.
Effective Board Leadership/Membership
Well trained board members offer much more to the success of the church than those who just serve because it makes them feel good. Many are very knowledgeable about their faith, but need to learn much more about how to help the church grow.
Conflict Resolution
Churches tend to avoid conflict for fear that it will breed disharmony. Disharmony results from unresolved conflict. Churches have the responsibility to the congregants they serve to teach them how to solve problems using spiritual principles.
