Doc Halliday Golden

Doc Golden lives to inspire everyone around her! Raised by a single mom while her father was in prison, she took on a parenting role at age ten. The Golden family lived through extraordinary challenges, often not having enough food or heat on cold winter nights.

Albeit tough challenges, Doc didn’t allow these obstacles to crush her, or prevent her from excelling in school and being an active dedicated part of her community. Her excellence and determination led her to New York University on scholarship, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music education.

She has shared pieces of her journey at schools, churches, orphanages, and shelters all over the tri-state area, as well as in Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, India, The Netherlands, Scotland, Finland, Australia, Israel, Burundi, and Kenya.

In 2015, Doc took on a new challenge to become a triathlete, and in 2019 she became an Ironman triathlete, completing her first Iron-distance race including a grueling 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and 26.2-mile run in under 17 hours. Less than one-tenth of 1% of the world population ever completes an Ironman. Less than 0.5% of those athletes are African American, and less than a quarter of the African American athletes are women. Doc Golden is an Ironman.

Doc believes life is like an Ironman triathlon, a long-distance race that takes discipline, courage, preparation, and strategy and is filled with unknowns and surprise challenges. Invite her into your community to share what she has learned and how it’s transformed her life and the lives of those around her and you won’t regret it.
